About Beth Buffington Curry, Mediator
Practical. Empathetic. Rooted in Real Life.
I’m Beth Buffington Curry, a certified mediator and lifelong resident of Hall County, Georgia. My mediation practice, Effective Mediation Works is built on a foundation of real-world experience, formal training, and a deep commitment to the community that has shaped me.

My journey to mediation began not in a courtroom, but through decades of real-life experience. For over 40 years, I’ve worked in the construction industry, navigating complex disputes and learning firsthand how unresolved conflict can impact people, families, and businesses. I also operate my family’s working farm in Hall County, where we raise cattle, grow crops and hay, and produce over 750,000 broiler chickens annually. These roles have given me a front-row seat to the kinds of challenges—legal, financial, and emotional—that many of my clients face.
The approach I take to mediation is grounded in practicality, integrity, and deep empathy. I’ve been through construction litigation, land disputes, and estate matters myself—not just as a neutral party, but as someone directly involved. I understand what it feels like to be in conflict, and I know how powerful it can be to find resolution that is fair, lasting, and respectful.

Community Involvement
Community matters deeply to me. I’m a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, a Medallion Member of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and an active supporter of the Quinlan Arts Center and The Arts Council here in town. I’m also a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the Gainesville-Hall County Chamber of Commerce.
Why Mediation Matters to Me
Mediation, to me is about more than resolving disputes. It’s about helping people find common ground, protect their relationships, and move forward with integrity. I believe that mediation can offer something that courtrooms often can’t: confidentiality, collaboration, and the opportunity for people to shape their own outcomes. I care deeply about my clients’ success, because I’ve been in their shoes—and I know what it means to walk away from a conflict with clarity, closure, and dignity.
I care about helping clients take ownership of their outcomes. Mediation isn’t about winning or losing; it’s about working together to find a solution that works. When my clients leave feeling respected, heard, and satisfied with a resolution they helped create – that’s a success. I believe in promoting long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes. And, yes, I care about my reputation. Every case is an opportunity to earn trust and demonstrate integrity, the two values I place at the center of everything I do.
On a Personal Note,
Of everything I’ve done in my life, what I’m proudest of are the relationships I’ve built. I believe strongly that to have a friend, you must be a friend – and I’ve carried that principle into both my personal and professional life. I’m incredibly proud of my three children, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Bill, and the meaningful lives they’ve each built. I’m also blessed with Jeremy and Maddy, my children’s wonderful spouses and my two precious grandchildren, Jaxson and Mary Hunter. My husband, Todd, is my best friend and confidant, and I am so thankful for his constant love and support. My mother and my sister are an essential part of my life too, and the strength of our family is a constant source of support and joy.
I bring these values – family, honesty, resilience, and compassion – into every aspect of the Effective Mediation Works practice.
